How does Memory Makers work?

Memory Makers is a Sporting Memories project which allows schools and colleges to interact with older people in their local community, using the power of sport to create understanding and connections.

We have created a set of easy-to-follow activities, which are designed to be inclusive so young people can engage with older people – especially those living with long-termconditions such as dementia and parkinson’s, or those that are facing isolation, loneliness or depression.

And where possible, we will also provide the opportunity for schools and colleges to connect with their nearest Sporting Memories Club, so that young people can meet our Club members and understand what they go through during sessions and how they can help older people to improve their wellbeing through sporting reminiscence and inclusive activities.

Why should my school/college get involved?

Sport provides a great connection between generations, whether through sharing sporting memories from many years ago to discovering a sport they have a discovered a passion for in recent years.

It allows for greater understanding of what lifestyles and support different generations need in our local communities across the UK.

Watch this video below of how intergenerational work can benefit young people.
